Ghanaian actress Haillie Sumney said many African celebrities were at risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, STDs, because of their lifestyle.
The actress who left her nursing career at Riverside Hospital in the United States to focus on film in Africa, argues that many African artists and actors do not believe in protection during sex.
“Many African actors are at risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases and HIV; I say this because Africans can be very confusing and many of them do not believe in the use of condoms or protection. They feel “supermen” and HIV is not real for them.
“I have friends and I talk to them, especially my male friends and many say they do not use protection because they do not like it and that’s the only reason they do. When you talk about HIV, many act as if it does not exist. So I would say that many of them are at risk of contracting HIV and STDs. “
