Meet Asha Mandela, the Woman With the Longest Dreadlocks in the World

Asha Mandela has a bolt on a world record that others may fear, the world’s longest dreadlocks.

The 50-year-old Atlanta inhabitant has earned the name “the Black Rapunzel” in light of the fact that she holds the Guinness World Record for “World’s Longest Dreadlocks,” which she has claimed since 2008.

Her fears were formally estimated to be 19 feet, 6 inches in length, yet an informal estimation discovered one of the strands estimated an astounding 55 feet, 7 inches.

Mandela previously begun developing her flawless locks 25 years prior, after she moved from Trinidad-Tobago to New York and chose to have an increasingly “characteristic” hairdo.

“When I initially began, it was to a greater extent an otherworldly adventure — It wasn’t anything to do with a prevailing fashion or style in design,” Mandela said by the International Business Times. “Following 25 years of development, my hair has truly moved toward becoming piece of me and I feel that on the off chance that I at any point trim my hair I’d truly be removing my life.”

However, significance like this isn’t simple: She washes the fears once every week, utilizing something like six containers of cleanser at once. At that point it takes two days for the locks to dry — and they gauge 25 pounds when wet.

She says the additional load of her hair makes her specialists extremely concerned.

“The specialists assume I have an ebb and flow of my spine and that it’s the length and the heaviness of my hair that is making me bend,” she stated, as indicated by the Mirror. “Some have said my neck has fell at the back and that I should be watchful in light of the fact that I could begin having fits in my spine and presumably be deadened.”

That issue is alleviated, she says, by the impact her locks have on the men throughout her life.

“My hair has never caused an issue with closeness. I think it includes a little flavor top,” she said.

A representative for Guinness World Records says the organization resigned the “World’s Longest Dreadlocks” record in 2009, and will never again be observing endeavors at the accomplishment.

“The purpose behind this is it’s difficult to quantify the legitimacy of the locks because of master strategies utilized in the connection of hair augmentations or re-connection of severed dreadlocks,” the representative told The Huffington Post. “Viably, the dreadlock can turn into an augmentation and hence difficult to arbitrate precisely.”
