Mishingo Aaron, An Entrepreneur With A Passion For Harnessing The Power Of Botswana’s Natural Ingredients In A New Beauty Range

There is a huge trend in the global beauty, bath and body products industry to get back to nature to source the finest ingredients and essential oils, and Botswana has a wealth of these ingredients. For entrepreneur Mishingo Aaron, founder of Naga Earth, the abundance of nature’s healing and restorative ingredients was the inspiration for the launch of her new business.

LoA chatted to Mishingo Aaron this month to learn more about this exciting new entrant into the African boutique bath and body brand space.

What does your company do?

Naga Earth is a boutique bath and body brand that manufactures a range of natural bath and body products. All our products are handmade here in Botswana. We also manufacture personalized guest amenities for lodges, guesthouses, etc.

“Batched fresh in Botswana, Naga Earth’s luxury bath and body products are delicately crafted from the highest quality, sustainably and ethically sourced ingredients: packed full of wildcrafted, organic botanicals and oils.”

What inspired you to start your company?

What inspired me to become an entrepreneur was the journey with my late grandmother in the bush. Back in the day (around 8 years ago), we would have our little adventure of going to the bush to find natural raw materials to use to mix in cream base, as I have sensitive skin. She would know a particular tree had a sap with nutrients that were useful for the skin. We both loved nature, and so the brand name Naga Earth is very significant to that journey. Naga in our native language Setswana means “bush” or “nature” and Earth also means nature. This is an African Brand with international standards!

Why should anyone use your service or product?

Our products are handmade with love. The love for nature I shared with my grandmother is embedded in each product, together with the knowledge behind a certain ingredient. Our cold-pressed Baobab Oil and Neroli-Infused Oil are all sourced here in Botswana. Such valuable luxurious oils!

“Using Naga Earth, you will experience the effectiveness of natural ingredients without added preservatives, and the awareness that what heals you can also help heal Africa.”

Tell us a little about your team

I am the founder and product developer behind the brand. I am so passionate about it. As I type this, we are only 5 weeks old and I am managing everything little thing alone! From sourcing, manufacturing and packaging of the product!

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

I do come from an entrepreneurial background since high school! When it was school holidays, I would head straight to work in our family business, no time to go home and laze around. And I value my parents because they worked for themselves ever since and that has been embedded in me to work for myself, and to empower others too.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

To have showrooms around the world! And be in as many hotel rooms as possible so people experience that love in each bottle of natural goodness!

“We hope that the experience of our brand inspires you to go out and create beauty in the world.”

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Being free to do what I love and work towards that passion.

What’s the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Believe in your idea no matter how big or crazy it looks and work everyday towards it. Seek advice from someone who inspires you.
