The United States won the Women’s Football World Cup 2019. They beat the Netherlands (2-0) this Sunday in Lyon. Reigning world champions, the Americans clinch their fourth world title after those acquired in 1991, 1999 and 2015.
The United States are followed by Germany, two victories in the final. Since 2015, it is the country of Donald Trump who holds the title of world champion of women’s football.
In eight editions, the United States have never left the podium of the Women’s World Cup. Their worst result is a third place (1995, 2003 and 2007) when they were beaten once in the final (2011).
Unlike the United States and several other countries, the Netherlands had never played until the final.
Since kickoff was given by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), only four nations are on the list of the World Cup. These are the United States, Germany, Norway and Japan.
“Congratulations to the American women’s football team for winning the World Cup,” Donald Trump tweeted nearly two hours after the final whistle. “Nice exciting match.America is proud of you all! “He continued.
