Adut Akech is a Sudanese-Australian model who started her career at 16-years old. In 2016, she was signed by an agent from model management company Elite, who spotted her at Australia Fashion Week. That same year, she made her professional runway debut, walking exclusively for Yves Saint Laurent at Paris Fashion Week.
Her career has since gone from strength to strength, with campaigns for Valentino, Prada and Tory Burch under her belt, among many others. Last year, she was the cover of Vogue Australia’s 2018 December issue, alongside her younger sister and was also voted the Model of the Year by members of the fashion industry.
However, despite the successes she has enjoyed, Adut said that she struggled with depression. Thankfully, she had friends and family who helped her through it. Now, she’s urging people to support anyone going through the same.
